Research Areas
Our multidisciplinary research focuses on key areas to drive impact.
Areas of Focus
Public Health
We have in-depth expertise in areas such as real-time disease surveillance, vaccination, nutrition, maternal health, mental health, environmental health, access to healthcare, sexual and reproductive health, child development. Impact Data Lab offers a wide range of services, including impact evaluations, desk-based reviews, and landscape analysis.
We also handle large-scale mixed-methods research projects that involve data from thousands of households. Our expertise extends to using complex data collection tools, such as measuring anthropometric data, screening for stunting and malnutrition, conducting environmental monitoring, and assessing child development.
Livelihood
Youth employment, social safety nets, migration and displaced populations, access to financial services, and urban growth. Impact Data Lab has a wealth of experience working on projects related to personal development and livelihoods. Our work covers areas such as youth career pathways, assessing social protection initiatives, examining the social and economic effects of urbanization, and exploring migration dynamics and the integration of displaced individuals into host communities. We also focus on studying how climate change affects both urban and rural populations.
Education
We specialize in conducting research at all education levels, from pre-primary to vocational, with a focus on enhancing basic literacy, numeracy, teacher training, and overall teaching quality. Along with large-scale surveys and in-depth interviews, we also utilize methods like student assessments in literacy and numeracy.
Gender
Our work explores topics like adolescence, gender-based violence, family relationships, and women's empowerment. Gender is a central theme in all Impact Data Lab’s research and data collection efforts. Our team has hands-on experience in areas like adolescence, gender-based violence, family dynamics, women’s empowerment, and individual voice and agency. We are also skilled at measuring gender-related outcomes in households, systems, and organizations through evaluations in fields such as nutrition, child development, and education.
Additionally, we have researched how gender influences the design and effectiveness of policies and programs. We also provide guidance to organizations on how to incorporate a gender perspective into every stage of their work, from design to impact evaluations.
Agriculture
We have extensive expertise in agronomy, focusing on best practices, as well as the connections between gender, nutrition, and sustainable farming methods. Our work also addresses the impacts of climate change and environmental factors on agriculture. Our team is particularly interested in exploring the connections between agriculture and other areas, such as livelihoods, gender, and public health.
